Biographical Sketch:
Kiernan O'Mara is a 4th-year Psychology-Neuroscience major at the University of Georgia (UGA), where she researches sociodemographic disparities and neural responses to auditory and visual paradigms in psychosis populations under Dr. Brett Clementz and Dr. Jennifer McDowell. She presented her work at UGA’s Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunity Conventions in 2022 and 2023.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Kiernan is deeply involved with the Athens community. She is the Event Coordinator for UGA’s Rural Health Initiative, founder of Delta Phi Epsilon’s Mental Health Initiative, and actively volunteers with St. Mary’s Hospital System and the Backpack Project of Athens.
In her free time, Kiernan is a dedicated classical harpist and pianist. She teaches, performs, and arranges multicultural harp music and hopes to continue doing so as she pursues medicine.
Kiernan plans to pursue academic psychiatry, blending her passion for education with her dedication to mental health advocacy.
