About

Mia Soviero is the Founder and CEO of Research Girl, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making science accessible, exciting, and attainable for students everywhere. Since its founding, Research Girl has reached learners across all 50 U.S. states and over 160 countries, providing resources, mentorship, and community for the next generation of researchers.

Mia is a neuroscience researcher with publications in peer-reviewed journals including Neurology and JMIR Digital Health, where her work at Columbia and NYU has explored migraine, sleep, stress, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and autobiographical memory. She has been recognized with the Christina L. Williams Prize for Original Research from Columbia University and the Connecticut Science Center STEM Achievement Award. Her research and advocacy have been featured by CNBC and TIME, and she has spoken at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Beyond the lab, Mia is a science communicator with a multi-platform following that began on TikTok in 2020. Her work translates complex neuroscience into accessible, engaging content that empowers people to understand their own brains.

Research Girl was born from Mia's belief that curiosity shouldn't be gatekept. Whether through the nonprofit's growing programs, her public science communication, or her work in research, she's committed to building a world where science belongs to everyone—not just those who already have a seat at the table.
