Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
Languages: English, Vietnamese, French
Biographical Sketch:
Vy Vuong has always been passionate about the world between science and the humanities. She earned her Medical Assistant Certification before she graduated high school, and worked as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), as well as a bobo barista and taekwondo coach.
As an undergraduate student at The George Washington University (GW), Vy is pursuing Neuroscience, English, and Pre-Medical Studies. At GW, she co-founded a student organization, Write for Heart, where she provides a platform for non-traditional English and Creative Writing majors to create and share art throughout the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.
Vy is currently a mentee at Research Girl, Inc., where she is collaborating with her mentor on mental health research and advocacy.
The coexistence among her passions in Neuroscience and English is found in her writing, where she advocates for adolescent mental health and ending stigma through different forms of art. In her spare time, she finds comfort in reading books, with topics ranging from postmodernism to mental health, trauma, and healing.
Vy's long-term goal is to work in health care, and as a creative writing professor. Through these pursuits, she hopes to bridge the gap between STEM and humanities.
